For me teaching art is creating a culture that is supportive, democratic, engaging and rich in learning opportunities. I am invested in the dynamic conversations that spring up around creating artwork, discussing artwork, and presenting artwork to the public. Art opens a dialog and from that new dialog active listening and reflection follow. As a thoughtful maker of visual works I aim to be ever more observant, non-judgmental, hardworking and constructive; as a teacher I hope to instill the same values in my students.
